Challenge
Most people struggle with what to cook — especially when they only have a few random ingredients at home. Traditional recipe apps don’t adapt to what users already have or what they personally like. This leads to wasted food, wasted time, and low motivation to cook.
More Engagement via Gamification
Dice interaction boosted user involvement.
In concept testing, 7 out of 10 users re-rolled at least twice per session — increasing time-in-app without adding complexity.
Better Retention & Return Rate
The combo of saved favorites, dynamic feeds, and AI-driven discovery encourages reuse.
80% of users in testing said they'd return before their next grocery run.
Less Food Waste
Up to 20–30% reduction among engaged users.
By using what’s already at home, users reduce unnecessary purchases and waste — inspired by results from OLIO & TooGoodToGo.
Faster Recipe Decisions
From 7 minutes to under 2.
Minimal UI friction + smart filtering = faster path to action.

The Solution: A Smart, Engaging AI Cooking Companion
I designed a mobile-first AI app that helps users cook better with what they already have — even if they don’t enjoy cooking or lack experience.
Personalized Recipe Feed
The Home screen delivers curated recipes based on user interests, dietary needs, and ingredient availability — set up easily via onboarding tags.
Smart Shopping List
Ingredients from any recipe are added to the Shopping List in one tap, helping users prepare with zero friction.
AI Food Scanner with Dice Interaction
The core feature: AI-powered scanning of ingredients on the table. Users receive 3 recipe suggestions instantly — and can "roll the dice" to generate new ones in a fun, gamified way.
